2010 San Diego County Fair “Taste the Fun”
Here is some updated information on San Diego County Fair 2010
The Chefs de Cuisine Association of San Diego (CDC) is partnering with the San Diego County Fair for the 2010 Fair theme, “Taste the Fun” from June 11th through July 5th. This is the sixth largest fair in North America.
The Tour of Tastes Theme Exhibit at the San Diego County Fair will be the centerpiece of the theme, celebrating food in all its forms, with many interactive, fun exhibits. This exhibit, which is presented by Jeffrey Scott Fine Magnetics, is just west of the O’Brien Gate (the main entrance gate to the Fair).
The Tour of Tastes will have many culinary competitions, featuring chefs competing for bragging rights, culinary students competing for glory, and Fairgoers competing for prize money. Whether it’s an Iron Chef-type competition, the Perfect Pizza Topping for kids or a chance to be the Next Food TV Star, the competition is fierce but the food is always delicious. The exhibit will have several competition kitchens, complete with everything a pro or amateur chef would need to prepare a dish in front of a live audience.
If cooking demonstrations are more your style, stop by for Fair Food Behind the Scenes and see how some of your favorite Fair foods are made. Or, learn about food and wine pairing to impress your friends. For something completely different, how about Molecular Gastronomy — nitrogen-fused ice cream to tease your tongue.
Then there’s Candy Isle, From Our Field to Your Face, Slow Food, California’s unique crops, a list of local Farmer’s Markets, and Your Favorite Comfort Food. All part of the interactive and engaging features — and more — at this year’s Tour of Tastes theme exhibit.
Here is a partial list of things you will see there:
- King of the Gas Lamp and Best Damn Chef Series
Featuring some of San Diego’s Finest Chefs
Friday and Saturday, June 18th and 20th
- Taste De Cuisine Series
Beer & Food Competitions
- Battle Of The Californias
- American Culinary Federation (ACF) Competition
- Iron Apprentice Culinary Student Competition
So much more. Lots of family friendly things to do or see.
