Impostor Health Inspectors

Written By: chefjohn on May 12, 2010 No Comment

I just got this email from the California Restaurant Association. On impostor health inspectors.

Like there isn’t enough to worry about being a Restaurant owner.

Dear San Diego County members,

We received the following notice from the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health regarding impostor health inspectors:

From time to time we receive reports of people trying to impersonate an inspector. Be sure to tell your employees to ask for an inspector’s identification before allowing them into your facility. County inspectors will have county-issued picture identification.

If you receive a phone call from someone claiming that they are with the Department of Environmental Health asking for an appointment to give you a special code, please be advised that this is not the County Health Department. Call the police immediately.

You may also contact our environmental health specialist on duty at (619) 338-2379 or our general department’s phone line at (619) 338-2222 if you would like to verify the information.

If you have any questions please contact Katie Hansen, director of local government affairs, at (619) 471-7835 or khansen@calrest.org.

Thank you.
