Since I wrote a blog on “Keeping Food Safe During An Emergency” I have gotten a good response, so I decided to take it to the next level.
With help from my friends at Chefs de Cuisine of San Diego.
Survival Shopping List and Menus
Surviving a disaster requires a way to keep eating. Families that are stranded can use this shopping list and menus to create a disaster recovery box. Feed four people over a four day span, and prepare on a back yard grill, with no more then one gallon of cooking water per day.
SHOP – STORE – SURVIVE: Don’t forget the Can Opener
Chicken – 4 cans
Baby Corn – 1 can
Green Beans – 3 cans
Bamboo shoots – 1 can
Cream of mushroom soup – 2 cans
Vienna sausage – 2 cans YOUR DISASTER KITCHEN:
Chili sauce – 2 cans Your back yard BBQ, or a butane-powered
Mixed vegetables – 2 cans portable stove and butane cartridges (7.8oz.ea) 
Cream of Chicken soup – 2 cans
Canned Turkey – 2 cans
Enchilada sauce – 1 can
Red Beans – 2 cans
Tomato sauce – 1 can
Dried Items:
Pancake mix – 1 box SAUCEPANS:
Chowmein noodles – 1 package
Spaghetti noodles – 1 package 1 ea.-1 qrt. saucepan with lid
Breakfast Cereal – 1 box 1 ea.-1.5 qrt. saucepan
Penne pasta – 1 pound 1 ea.-2.5 qrt pot with lid
Rice – 2 cups
Cream of wheat – 1 box
Rigatoni pasta – 1 pound
Pinto beans – 1 pound
Liquid/Pouch Items:
Maple syrup – 1 bottle
Cooking oil – 1 bottle UTENSILS:
Soy Milk – 2 boxes 9″ Spoon
Tuna – 2 pouches 9″ Fork
Teriyaki Marinade – 1 bottle 9″ Spatula
Manual Can Opener
Biodegradable dish soap
Bowls, Flatware, Dish Towels
