The Specialties Report

Specialty Veggies- Snow Peas are on the rise in the price category, snaps are still good. Baby green summer squashes are the best buy at this time of the squash offerings. Large yellow tomatoes (4×5, 5×6) have come down in price and into a more affordable summer range. Mixed Heirlooms are priced to move and we advocate you support our local growers by featuring heirlooms on your menu.
Seasonal Items- Red Sweet Corn is a fun addition to the menu or a special that will surprise your customers. Plums are coming on strong, the basic red and black are complemented by the Elephant Heart, Dinosaur Egg, Tulare Giant Prune and Honey Rose plum varieties full of flavor and unique qualities.
Red Pears are coming in from domestic sources, fresh new crop goodness awaits you when you bite into a ripe red pear. The famous Charentais Melons are available through the market. A special cantaloupe cultivated in the heart of southern France is well known for its flowery/musky aroma and sweet, juicy flesh. Traditionally these melons are served as halves infused with port wine or with prosciutto.
Local- Connelly Gardens has some really tasty red grape tomatoes, mixed cherry heirlooms and yellow cherry tomatoes as well as some nice blocky, thick walled red bell peppers.
Stehly Farms Organic is producing organic Valencia oranges, Star Ruby grapefruit and blackberries. Peterson Specialty has great tasting Romano Beans and organic heirloom tomatoes.
Suzies Farm has a great variety of organic veggies from roots (carrots, radishes, beets) to fruits (tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, eggplant). They are offering a nice selection of unique peppers and eggplants, ask your rep for info.

I see u use wordpress, is it unproblematic to control spam with wordpress or doesn’t it make any difference? I hope you will respond to my comment or maybe send me an email with your answer if you don’t want to approve the comment. Best regards, Annie
