The Specialties Report Aug.30th – Sept.4th

Specialty Items- Mixed Heirlooms are really good from a volume perspective, great variety and nice to use in specials where you can take advantage of their great price. Bananas have come off a bit recently but the Cavendish variety is so common you might want a change of pace. Baby Finger Bananas and Red Bananas are available in 20# units. Great for snacks and amenities where you want to provide something out of the ordinary, how about baby banana splits? For other options try Manzano and Burro Bananas.
Seasonal Items- Red Sweet Corn is back price is up a small amount. Rainbow Carrots in the 25# sack are available from Colorful Harvest again after a seasonal gap. Blood Oranges from Australia should be coming in over the weekend but the volume will be light, if you have to have them preorder and give your rep an estimated usage so we can secure the right amount. In the age of so many precut and prepared foodservice items some take a more traditional DIY (Do It Yourself) approach in the kitchen to preparing foods from scratch. If you are one of these chefs consider 2 items, Pineapple Quince and Pickling Cucumbers. It is really cool to offer house-made prepared foods so consider house-made membrillo on a cheese plate or your own signature pickles. If you do this, invite us over, we want to try it your creations! Concord Grapes are rocking and rolling, their flavor is so unique. Local- Connelly Gardens has some really tasty red grape tomatoes and some nice blocky, thick walled red bell peppers. Peterson Specialty has great tasting Mixed Greens and organic heirloom tomatoes. Suzies Farm has a great variety of organic veggies from roots (carrots, radishes, beets) to fruits (tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, eggplant).

I installed recent versions of Crackatoa, Businezz, Red Steel, DesignPile, also I have installed also Heatmap – simple, but made for Ad-Sense. Infrequent I can find something cool but rich in options.
